Finally! My first Striper this year.
I have not done nearly as much Striper Fishing as I did last year because I have been doing a whole lot more Bass fishing, Large Mouth, Spotted Bass, Small Mouth, etc. Either on my own pounding the shore or fishing tournaments with the new Bass Club I joined this year. I have only made a couple trips after work down to the river for Stripers with no success. Regardless, I decided to head out after work on Wednesday. You'll never catch any unless you fish for em... The flows were really high Wednesday afternoon so fishing some of my usual ...
Folsom Lake Bass Fishing – I got a couple!
I am fortunate that my wife works two days a week (6AM-12noon) and during the summer I get to spend that time with my children. Sometimes we just hang out at home, go catch the free summer movies, etc. But Tuesday we headed out to Folsom Lake. I noticed immediately upon arrival the level was down about 6-8 feet. Bummer! I had hoped we would have the high water throughout Summer. Oh well,.. We found a nice cove at Folsom Point and headed down. The kids quickly noticed a couple baby bull frogs in the rocks next to shore,.. then after ...
A possible new world record Large Mouth Bass?
"Seventy-seven years and counting. That's how long George Perry has sat atop the record books in the largemouth bass category, but he may be sharing his perch if a recently caught Japanese bass is as big as has been reported..." Read the whole story here.
Shad Fishing on the American River part 2 – Andrew
We hooked up again with Russ from Hog-On Guide service for another evening on the American River for some Shad fishing. With it being so hot and the Shad seem to be bitting better in the last hours of light, we decided to met met Russ at 8PM. We had about an hour and half of some great fast fishing. Perfect for little kids. Not the 20-30 fish nites Russ was having earlier, but still fun for Andrew. I hope we still have enough fish in the system to get my daugher out before the Shad disappear. As I've said before, ...
Shad Fishing on the American River part 1 – Zack
My buddy Russ from Hog-On Guide service gave me a call and said he has been getting a few shad in the evenings and wanted to know if I'd like to take my kids out. Sure! But we decided it would be best to take them one at a time. So Zack, my youngest son (41/2) and I met Russ around 5:30PM down at the American River and headed out. We did not have to go far from where we launched and Zack was entertained by all the people on the river that day rafting down... We got anchored up ...

Rivers of a Lost Coast movie
At the turn of the 20th Century, a handful of pioneers carried their fly rods into California’s remote north coast and gave birth to a culture that would revolutionize their sport. American River Panoramics
Each time I’m on the American River fishing I will try to get at least one Panoramic shot. Unless of course it’s a “secret” fishing hole. (lol) The North, Middle and South forks of the American River converge upstream of Folsom Reservoir. Below the dam, the main stem of the American River is often referred to as the “Lower...
