It was the the day after Christmas, we had beautiful sunny day, I had a new pair of Waders & Boots, and the kids were a little stir crazy after a whole day in the house on Christmas. So, off we went to the American River for a little hike and some fishing. I usually don’t take the kids when I fish the river for obvious safety reasons but today my wife and sister where along and could keep a close eye on them. The weather was a wonderful 40 something and sunny! We headed off to spot I thought would be holding some fish and have an area for the kids to play.
The fishing was great, the family had a good time, the kids were able to collect some items for the new microscope they got for Christmas,.. but! The catching was not in the schedule. That is how my first season Steelhead fishing has gone so far. Everything I am learning about Steehead fishing is all new for me and the 0 catch rate so far is to be expected. But I’m learning more and I’m due!
See ya on the water…
