American River Steelhead hunt continues…

Well, it’s been over a month since my last fishing report. Although I have been fishing, I’ve had little to report or write about… all of last month I spent time on the American River a couple times a week in search of the elusive Steelhead.

I’m a confident fisherman and know it’s called fishing not catching. But just like all fishermen, I fish because I want to catch fish! For me, the whole Steelhead fishing thing is all new. The techniques, fishing a river, etc. and now this year throw in low numbers of returning fish and low & clear water. Needless to say, I have yet to touch a winter run American River Steelhead. From the reports I have read or heard, the fish that are being caught are few and far between and you will have to work for them. But! That does mean I’m giving up, I’ll still be at it and the hunt continues…
