My little piece of paradise

When I moved up here to Northern California I was fortunate that some of the best schools and some great neighborhoods were right next to a big lake!.. This close proximity allows me to make a quick trips down to Folsom Lake for a few hours of fishing after work and weekends without having to plan for it. Just grab the fishing poles, backpack, sometimes the kids and go! As the lake continues to fill, the fishing looks to only get better.
Here’s a shot of the type of structure found in many coves all over Folsom Lake. Most of this is not fishable when the water is low. …and some of it’s 2 minutes from my house! I’m truly grateful.

Although the wind was blowing pretty good yesterday, I stopped by the lake after work. I ventured out to a point almost at the main lake and the wind was blowing into my face, wind caped waves slapping my feet and the muddy shoreline. So I decided to fish the coves. I did see a few small bass up swallow, but no big ones yet… at least that can be seen or caught. Almost time to get some Braid, a flipp’n stick, jigs, and some frogs! I can’t wait until the trees are completely covered. I did manage this nice 2.5lbr out at the head of the cove on a small 5″ swim bait.
