From the website – Did you know that some of the best bait fishing and fly fishing in the West is found in the Eastern Sierra region around Bridgeport California. Residents and visitors to this Mono County community have successfully created a fish enhancement program that will see 50,000 German Browns being planted in local waters annually. The Bridgeport Chamber helped begin the project.
Started in 2003 by long time fishing guide Frank Killen, the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Program evolved from soliciting donations to purchase Alpers trout for planting in the Bridgeport Reservoir to enhancing the local German Brown Trout population by developing a community fish hatchery.
Fishermen, young and old, come from throughout California and Nevada to participate in the two major fishing tournaments held by the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Program Committee. The funds generated from the entry fees are used for the continued expansion of the hatchery program.
