Folsom Lake Bass Fishing – I got a couple!

I am fortunate that my wife works two days a week (6AM-12noon) and during the summer I get to spend that time with my children. Sometimes we just hang out at home, go catch the free summer movies, etc. But Tuesday we headed out to Folsom Lake. I noticed immediately upon arrival the level was down about 6-8 feet. Bummer! I had hoped we would have the high water throughout Summer. Oh well,..
We found a nice cove at Folsom Point and headed down. The kids quickly noticed a couple baby bull frogs in the rocks next to shore,.. then after closer examination, found a whole bunch all over. They quickly built a little pool surrounded with rocks and went about capturing as many as they could for their little pool. That kept them busy for hours having a great time running up and down the shore, catching frogs, etc. Meanwhile I was fishing!
As expected nothing seemed to be up swallow near shore. Nothing! Not even a follower or fry, at least not that I could get to bite. I walked down to a point, what I call a nothing point, just dirt and a bit of sand,.. but!, it had a bit of wind blowing across it, and I noticed a weed-line out a bit. I had a pearl white fluke tied on and made a several casts as far as I could to reach just beyond that weed-line and BAM! Nice healthy 2lber. He was probably only in about 6 feet of water but about as far off shore as I could cast. Nothing more after a couple hours and we left shortly after. I did manage another fish later that evening on a spinnerbait at another spot.
I’d have to say over all, pretty slow. But not too bad for getting to the water around 9ish, fishing from shore with the lake dropping and only fishing for a couple hours. Plus the kids had a great time!

Glad to hear you are getting out with the kids and getting into them. Nice job!
