Hello, you want to know about NorCal Angler?
Well, as of Feb. ’08, I now live in Northern California (East of Sac. Area) and call this home. I wanted to a place to log my fishing adventures… So here we are.
My Family and I moved up here to NorCal from San Diego in Feb. ’08 (Work related). I’m a family man, Husband, Father 3 times, Graphic/Web Designer, and started my own biz in 2000, 316 Design – I enjoy life, my family, Church, friends, my work, fishing, a good beer and quality Tequila.
I’ve been fishing since I was a kid with many years fishing freshwater in So Cal. (San Diego) As I got older I did a lot of Bass fishing (it’s all Large Mouth Bass in San Diego) and on occasion, I have been known to go to one of the local lakes in San Diego and fish for the stocked Trout with ultra-light gear. Sometime in the eighties I started fishing Saltwater and eventually spent many years fishing the overnight tuna trips on the sporties and have been on multiple 3 day, & 10 day trips as well. A few years back I did a lot “private boat” trips, most of them were on several 18′ center consoles and a couple trips on some Yacht’s.
I worked as a deck-hand on several sport-fishing boats out of San Diego during the early to mid-90′s off & on for 6-7yrs and several seasons on a couple Long Range Boats as well. I went to Alaska and fished a season on a Salmon Seiner working the deck and running a skiff. Then when back in SD, I worked another season or two on the Long Rangers. (those years seem to have all ran together) I Had plenty of hours to get my ticket (Capt. Lic.) and was looking to be an owner/operator some day. A lot of the guys that I worked with are now either Capt.’s and/or owner/operators. It didn’t happen for me, long story. (wife, family, etc.)
Since arriving here in NorCal, I fish Folsom Lake often, (about a mile from house), I’ve done pretty good from the shore catching and releasing Spotted Bass, Smallies and Large Mouth! I joined El Dorado Bass Club and have been fishing tournaments with the club. Man, I have learned sooo much! That has been awesome and I now want to fish other tournament series. Although I’m focused on Bass more than I ever, I do occasionally find time for other types of fishing. I am becoming familiar with the American River striper fishing and did pretty good in 2008 for a first year. I have caught and released several Steelhead, (no winter run Steelies yet) and several incidental LARGE Salmon, released.

Days I can fish?: I work for myself and with reasonable notice, I’ll fish any day! Sundays are usually Family days… “Usually” is the key word.
